His father, Dave North, is English, and from Yorkshire. His mother, Jan, is Welsh, and from Anglesey, Wales. The family returned to Anglesey when he was two. He is a fluent Welsh language speaker.
He has stated:
England was never an option for me and they never got in touch. My father is English but he feels he has a bit of Welsh in him after watching me come through the age-groups.
