Doug Burgum is an American entrepreneur and politician. A Republican, he has been Governor of North Dakota, since December 15, 2016. He is the founder of Kilbourne Group and co-founder of Arthur Ventures.

Doug is the son of Katherine and Joseph Boyd Burgum. He is married to Kathryn Helgaas. He has three children with his former wife Katherine Stroker. Doug’s grandfather had founded a grain elevator in Arthur.

Doug’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Arthur Burgum (the son of Arthur Thomas “Anthony” Burgum and Ann Harper Bradley). Joseph was born in England. Anthony was the son of William Burgum and Edith Bowery. Ann was the daughter of Aaron Bradley and Elizabeth Harper.

Doug’s paternal grandmother was Jessamine Slaughter (the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Slaughter and Malinda Louise “Linda” Warfel). Jessamine was born in North Dakota. Linda was the daughter of Charles Warfel and Mary “Mariah”/Maria Boyd.

Doug’s maternal grandfather was Burton Kane Kilbourne (the son of Ferdinand Kilbourne and Martha Jane Feltt). Burton was born in Kansas. Ferdinand was the son of Henry Kilbourne and Fanny Briggs. Martha was the daughter of Amasa Feltt and Elizabeth Young Dewey.

Doug’s maternal grandmother was Daisy Conwell (the daughter of Abraham Louis Conwell and Catharine Ann Higgins). Abraham was the son of James A. Conwell and Harriet Conner. Catharine was the daughter of James Higgins and Lucina Craig.
