Elizabeth’s maternal grandparents were Thomas Hazlehurst Middleton (the son of Charles Francis Middleton and Lois Hazlehurst) and Ruth Vincent Stephens (the daughter of James Vinson Stephens and Margarett Elizabeth Evans).
